Over 60,000 visitors from 200 countries attended the world’s largest mobile exhibition that ran over four days.

"The record attendance to this year’s Mobile World Congress is indicative of the impact and importance of mobile in not only technology and telecommunications, but across nearly all facets of the private and public sectors," said GSMA chief executive John Hoffman.

1,400 exhibitors took up 58,600sqm of event space at Fira with Google Android showcasing the platform’s latest applications on a double-deck stand created by Brand Fuel and Communication by Design.

The stand featured a slide, smoothie bar and mobile phone sushi-style bar, portraying the 115 handsets that are now Android compatible (check out the April edition of Event magazine for a showcase feature on the stand).

Other highlights at the show included talks from Microsoft chief executive Steve Balmer, Twitter chief executive Dick Costolo and Google chairman and chief executive Eric Schmidt.
