Fergus Mitchell has followed the lead of his co-founder and fellow managing director of the Opex Group-owned production firm Interactive New Media (INM) James Latham and stepped down from the role after 15 years. Latham left the company when his post-acquisition agreement expired in July (Event September). Mitchell has now also resigned and INM operations director Simon Wall has been promoted to managing director. Wall said: “I am looking forward to building on the success that Mitchell has achieved and bringing the next generation of event services to the industry from a solid base alongside the Opex interactive, design and content services.” Together Mitchell and Latham pioneered event television for organisers worldwide, distributing content from events such as ITU World Telecom via satellite, cable, terrestrial, digital TV and the web. Mitchell was also instrumental in the company’s media management at Excel London, through a concept called Excel InVision, which delivers signage and advertising across the venue’s poster infrastructure. He will continue to work on some outstanding contracts on a consultancy basis but has no other confirmed plans for the future. He said: “INM has been a huge challenge. It has been fun, hard work and very rewarding. The great asset of the business has been its culture and I wish my successor every success in continuing the spirit of the company’s unique and innovative approach.”
