Melville Exhibition and Event Services has appointed Leon Clifford as managing director of the Birmingham-based exhibition contractor. Clifford joins Melville from Reed Business Information (RBI) where he served as publishing director responsible for running brands such as the Salon International exhibition, Hairdressers Journal and Computer Weekly. He spent 21 years with RBI as a journalist before moving into general management. Clifford said: “Until last month I was a Melville customer and I look forward to bringing that customer perspective into the business to help us achieve even higher levels of service.” His responsibilities will involve managing all Melville divisions including the CTS visitor registration business. Clifford will report directly to Melville chief executive Nick Marshall and assume some of the responsibilities relinquished by former Evenser Group chief executive Barry Day. Day left the firm in March and has since taken on the role of finance director at catering services company, PKL Food Service. Marshall said: “I am delighted to announce Leon’s appointment and look forward to working with him to drive our business forward. He brings with him a wealth of experience that we will be putting to work for the benefit of our customers.” Melville has recently celebrated being appointed sole supplier of shell scheme, electrical, furniture and carpet services to the British International Motor Show, which will take place at Excel London in July.
