Next year’s event, taking place on 19 June, will have a theme of "Voyage of Discovery".
"We’re in difficult financial times but there are two major reasons why we feel next year’s Manchester Day Parade must be reapted," said Manchester City Council head of events Margaret Stephenson.
"2010’s parade encouraged a significant lift in spend across the city, more than six times the cost of the parade. On top of this, the sense of pride for those involved and audience reaction to the event surpassed all our expectations. The parade feels like a community celebration of a location, as well as a world class event."
