The move will see all 45 of the group's UK venues maintain ‘fair and reasonable' prices leading up to and during the London 2012 Olympic Games.
Created by Visit London and Visit Britain and supported by Locog it is hoped the Charter will avoid the price hikes that have affected previous host cities. It now has over 350 signatories.
"We recognise that the 2012 Olympic Games presents us with a unique opportunity to showcase our product on a global stage, and as a major provider of accommodation, conference and event facilities throughout the UK, it was essential that we demonstrate our commitment to fair pricing and sign the Charter," said Macdonald Hotels & Resorts sales and marketing director Ruaridh Macdonald.
Managing director of the London Eye and chair of the Events 2012 Development Group, the industry body that manages the Charter, David Sharpe added: "Having a major national group such as Macdonald Hotels make this commitment to the Charter is a significant step in our drive to ensure that those visiting London and the UK leading up to and during the Games in 2012 have the best possible experience and leave with a positive and lasting impression of our hospitality industry."
