London International Boat Show celebrates its 55th year: pictures

The 55th London International Boat Show opened on 9 January and is showcasing 1,000 boats, from a small canoe to a 37m Sunseeker worth £11million at Excel London.

"We hope to attract a similar visitor attendance to last year of 127,000," said National Boat Shows managing director Andrew Williams.

"I think we'll get a lot more international visitors this year as because of the Euro to pound rate it could be up to 40% cheaper to buy a boat in the UK than it is in Europe."

Kelly Brook officially opened the show which ends on 18 January. The Boat Show, organised by National Boat Shows, features a range of activities and entertainment including a Deck Games area for children, fashion shows and an acrobatic musical performance called A Mermaid's Tale.

Visitors can also get the chance to meet boating heroes, including Dame Ellen MacArthur and representatives from Skandia Team GBR.

Agency M also launched Royal Navy's outreach vehicles at the show encouraging recruitment and raising awareness of the Royal Navy.
