London ICC panel announces line-up

The body set up to look into the feasibility of a dedicated convention centre in the capital (Event, April) has appointed its first six members.

The London International Convention Centre (ICC) Mayoral Commission, which is backed by the London Development Agency, will adivse on location, funding and timings. It will also establish an advisory group of international buyers.

Visit London non-executive director and chair of the Business Tourism Advisory Group Vanessa Cotton and former chief executive of the Melbourne Convention and Visitors' Bureau Gary Grimmer are among the new commissioners.

BA director of marketing and commercial development Martin George and Roger Tondeur, chief executive of event agency MCI Group are also on board.

Real estate agency Jones Lang LaSalle is represented by European director Katie Kopec. Consultant Skidmore, Owings & Merrill director of architects Larry Oltmanns completes the line-up.

Chairman Gerry Acher said: "The insight and experience of these commissioners allows us to thoroughly investigate the case for a new purpose-built international centre."

The group plans to meet every six to eight weeks.
