Designers Edward Barber and Jay Osgerby will design the Torch used for the 70-day Olympic Torch Relay, when 8,000 Torchbearers will carry the Olympic Flame across the UK ahead of the Olympic Games Opening Ceremony.

The advance manager of the torch relay project, Dan Schofield, is working with Event magazine on The Eventice judging panel at Confex this week.

His day job involves working on a torch relay that will attempt to pass within an hour of 95% of the UK population.

Based in Hackney, fewer than four miles from the Olympic Park, the designers were selected by LOCOG and the Design Council after a competitive tender process last year.
