Around 2,500 people from the Olympic Park's neighbouring boroughs will be invited to take part in or attend two community events being held inside the park this spring.

The Aquatics Centre and the Copper Box will host the Six Host Borough Swimming Championships on 18 March and One Movement on 21 April as part of the Legacy Company’s commitment to the local community.

The events will give locals a change to test out the facilities before the 2012 Games rolls into town.

Speaking about the Six Host Borough Swimming Championships, double Olympic gold medallist Rebecca Adlington said: "The children from the London Host Boroughs competing at the Aquatics Centre in March have got a once in a lifetime opportunity to compete in an Olympic Pool so soon before an Olympic Games. It will be such as inspiration for them and I wish them all the best of luck."

So far, six out of the eight permanent Olympic venues have had their future secured. The fate of the remaining two – the Stadium and the Press and Broadcast Centre – is expected to be sealed by summer.
