The caterer staved off competition from 19 potential contenders to win the contract. It plans to create a series of signature dishes specifically for the RAF Museum, which will be showcased on weekly ‘wartime specials’ menus.
It marks the first venture into the museum market for Lindley Heritage, whose client portfolio features the Theatre Royal Bath, Malvern Theatres and the Warner Bros Studio Tour London.
Lindley Heritage will operate two restaurants at the RAF Museum, working with its in-house events team to provide sales and marketing support.
It will refit and rebrand the Wings Restaurant, and plans to introduce a new food offering and table service format.
The new restaurant menu will focus on home-cooked British classic dishes, using seasonal and locally-sourced ingredients, along with a choice of themed sharing platters bearing names such as The Spitfire, The Royal Wessex and The Westland Whirlwind.
Lindley Heritage will also refurbish the Wessex Café. A self-service counter designed in the shape of a Wessex helicopter will provide the focal point.
Vicki Hibbert, corporate events manager at the RAF Museum, said: "In reviewing our catering services we wanted a fresh, new and dynamic approach which would reinvigorate our offering.
"The concepts and ideas put forward by the Lindley Heritage team are bespoke to us. They weave the history and atmosphere of the museum throughout the entire catering offering from the themed menus to the new décor in the Wessex Café, all of which will combine to offer our visitors a unique and memorable experience."
Jonathan Davies, sales and marketing director of The Lindley Group, added: "Being awarded the RAF Museum contract breaks new ground for us as it is the first museum to become part of the Lindley Heritage client portfolio.
"We are looking forward to working with the RAF Museum team to bring some excitement and theatre to the catering operation, and to helping them to realise the full potential of the facilities at this historic venue."
