The new set-up will allow a typical concert, such as Green Day's in October, to house 15,700 fans, making it the second-largest audience on the band's UK tour.
"The diversity of acts [appearing at the venue] will reflect the varied nature of events that the new LG Arena will host, with a more flexible seating configuration and intimate atmosphere," said The NEC Group managing director of arenas Phil Mead.
The LG Arena opening season runs from 7 October to 31 December.
The venue was rebranded last September following a sponsorship deal with LG Electronics.
