The venue is set to host events and act as a ‘trade hub’ during 2012.

Events and activity are likely to be based around commercial aims with countries such as ‘China, India and Brazil as well as established ones such as Germany and France,’ according to a report on the Foreign and Commonwealth Office’s strategy for the Games.

Lancaster House confirmed to Event that UK Trade and Investment, a British government agency which looks to promote the UK to international markets and secure inward investment, had asked for the venue and that requested had been granted.

Lancaster House is a mansion near Buckingham Palace with a huge garden space that is currently managed by the Foreign and Commonwealth Office. It is also the home of the Government's vast hospitality booze stash.
