Kensington Gardens to host ice arena for Russia Olympic House

The Russian Olympic Committee and Sochi 2014 Organising Committee have revealed plans for two summer and winter-themed attractions in Kensington Gardens during the Olympic Games.

Russia.Sochi.Park will comprise of two sites that will open from 26 July to 12 August. The committee claims the attraction will be the "biggest Russian event" ever held in the UK.

Russia.Park will be a festival-style fun park in Perks Field, that will feature performances by folk artists from all regions of Russia.

To give the public a taste of the next Winter Olympics, Sochi.Park in Albert Memorial Lawns will be a winter wonderland with an ice arena, where world champion ice skaters llya Averbukh and Tatiana Navka will perform.

Sochi.Park will also feature a high-tech visitor experience, allowing the public to virtually step into Sochi. It includes a 4D chairlift ride up the Krasnodar mountains.

Alexander Zhukov, president of the Russian Olympic Committee, said the event will allow people to experience "the sights, tastes, sounds and people of Russia".
