Having studied two years of Events Management at Sheffield Hallam, I was over the moon to be coming on
placement at TRO. After attending some really inspiring guest lectures on experiential marketing I was so
excited to have the opportunity to work in the industry. Working at an agency that covers every aspect of a
project, from planning to creative to logistics, means I have had a brilliant insight into how campaigns are run from start to finish. I am grateful to have had a placement that has given me a truly well rounded experience.
My role as events team administrator meant I was working in the admin hub of Holland House (TRO
London) and so I soon got to know everybody around the building. In my first few months I was given lots of ad hoc tasks across different teams, including a lot of research, sourcing suppliers, venue finding etc. This
range of tasks provided insight into a wide range of projects by different teams for different clients.
In the second six months on placement my responsibilities were increased hugely, which was brilliant as it
meant I was really challenged and able to test my ability and what I’d already learnt. Firstly was the LRS' All Hands On' conference; a movie-themed conference for 800 people. I was put in charge of a range of aspects from sourcing props/dressing, dealing with print, managing aspects of artwork in our studio, logistics and then onsite support for the actual event. This was a big project for me to work on and it was an amazing feeling seeing the final result at the event and knowing I was a part of the team who made it happen.
Another large project, and the highlight of my placement, was our 'Access All Areas' activation for British
Airways at the Isle of Wight Festival. I was put in charge of creating a range of costumes for our brand
ambassadors, and accommodation & transport for everybody working on site. I was so impressed with this event and seeing how much the public loved it was so inspiring and that feeling ensures me that I am in the right industry!
Once my year on placement had finished I was lucky enough to continue working over summer as an
Account Executive on the LRS team. I certainly wasn’t ready to leave TRO so was delighted to be asked to
stay on the team that I had been working closely with.
No two days at TRO have been the same for me and I truly have gained so much experience this year which makes me excited to finish my last year at university and continue to kick start my career.
One of the things that makes TRO an amazing place to work is the people; everybody is passionate about
what they do, hardworking and fun loving, and it really is like one big family, so I have learnt from the best
and had an amazing time while doing so. Whenever I am asked if I enjoyed my internship year at TRO, I tell
them that I hit the jackpot!
