Me and my internship: Beth McDuff, Crown

It was clear from the get go that interning at Crown on their Green Shoots programme would consist of a lot of hard work, as the application process alone was made up of five challenging stages: a submission including a cover letter and CV; phone interview; production task; presentation, and two face-to-face interviews.

This made me want the placement all the more, and when I finally received the call to say I’d got the gig I think I unleashed an inaudible squeal of "Thank you! Thank you!" – probably deafening my new manager.

Split between production and logistics, Crown is unique in its placement offering, allowing us to gain a wide range of experience during our time here. Management are keen to nurture talent and this really shines through in the variety of work we take part in to unlock our potential.

From brainstorming sessions and venue searches, to helping out on pitch documents, creating budgets and site visits, there really is no limit to the industry exposure and training we receive at Crown.

In my first week I was sent to Goodwood Festival of Speed to support the team on the Peugeot stand, which was both mildly terrifying and truly amazing. When we’re not working in the office or onsite, we have the opportunity to attend supplier events, tasting some of London’s finest food and drink, and getting to know other industry professionals.

The ultimate bonus of Crown’s Green Shoots programme is that there is the opportunity of a job offer upon completion of our university studies.

I know that by the end of this year I am probably going to have to be removed from the building kicking and screaming, so knowing that there is a chance to come back makes it that little bit easier. This really is one of the best internships in the business and I couldn’t have hoped for a better year.
