Inspiration: Behind the scenes - Focus on - Hotels

Linklaters freelance event manager Cait Chidgey checks in and checks out some unique hotel venues.

THE LANGHAM HOTEL, (020) 7636 1000, www.langhamhotels.com: The venue's ballroom has been transformed into a sumptuous canvas to create an evening of unstinting glamour. Coupled with an enchanting courtyard, the Langham has delivered a venue worthy of its Leading Hotels of the World brand. However, the piece de resistance is undoubtedly the beautiful Infinity Suite, which can be hired for more intimate events.

SOHO HOTEL, (020) 7559 3000, www.sohohotel.com: This hotel screams taste with a constantly packed bar and restaurant. Three private rooms provide plenty of sophisticated decor, and if you fancy watching your favourite film without the rustle of sweet papers and constant mobile phone interruptions, then welcome to cinematic heaven, because the Soho Hotel has two private screening rooms for 45 or 100 guests.

FOUR SEASONS, CANARY WHARF, (020) 7510 1999, www.fourseasons.com: The hotel's Presidential Suite, which is more of a one-bedroom apartment, makes an unusual venue choice in which to entertain clients, rather than the surrounding bars of Canary Wharf. It has a spacious living room with tasteful decor, and separate dining room that can accommodate 25 guests for a reception. It also provides breathtaking views over London, not forgetting the bird's-eye view into Ubon.

GRAN HOTEL LA FLORIDA, BARCELONA, 00 34 93 259 30 00, www.hotellaflorida.com: They may have beaten Arsenal in the Champions League, but you can't hold that against Barcelona, mainly because it is home to La Florida. The hotel is an architectural masterpiece, with an infinity pool that opens out onto the terrace allowing panoramic views over Barcelona and the Mediterranean. The hotel has the most kitsch bar with its own stage that you can hire for your own private Karaoke evening.
