The Index Group's application to become a member of the Association
of Exhibition Organisers (AEO) has been referred to a full council
meeting later this month because of "ramifications relating to future
The group, a consortium of contractors launched in July, is arguing that
the AEO has set precedents in the past relating to the organisation's
two-year trading requirement. All of Index's nine members have been
trading for more than two years individually.
"I did explain to the AEO that Melville and a few other companies have
reformed and become members in the past 12 to 15 months, so therefore
that criterion can't always be written in stone," said RG Exhibition
Services chairman Keith Richards.
