Foffani replaces Katie Streten in the role, who has been promoted to head of consumer insight for Imagination EMEA. His remit will include working on responses to projects such as visitor engagement at events and exhibitions, content and branding, leading a team of four to work closely with clients from marketing and public affairs departments at Ford of Europe.
Previously an independent strategist in the innovation sector, Foffani has also worked for McCann Erickson as head of strategic planning, as well as Saatchi & Saatchi and Young & Rubicam.
Throughout his career he has worked with brands such as Coca-Cola, Mastercard, Armani and Diesel. He also has previous experience in the automotive sector, having dealt with accounts for Chevrolet Europe, Toyota and Lexus.
David Girling, business head of Ford EMEA at Imagination, said: "After a thorough search across Europe we have appointed Lorenzo because of his breadth of knowledge, specific strategy skills, his automotive experience and because he has a great personality."
Foffani added: "I welcome the opportunity of joining Imagination and to be in London, the centre of the creative world. Imagination offers a broad set of communication channels that requires strategic input and I particularly look forward to making an impact on the Ford business in Europe."
The hire comes one week after the agency announced the hire of James Keane as digital creative lead of its Ford account.
