Martyn Westcott-Wreford has been appointed to the role of operations manager at Savoy Place, which will see him manage and oversee the mobilisation and operational functions of the building.

Judith Freudig has been recruited to the role of diary and events coordinator, meanwhile Thilo Rupprecht is the venue’s new audio-visual (AV) manager.

Freudig’s prior experience includes working for the Institute of Public Works Engineering Australia (IPWEA). Her role as the diary and events coordinator will encompass IET events at Savoy Place.

Rupprecht brings two decades of experience to the role, having previously worked with clients including the Sheraton and the 2000 Sydney Olympics.

In Birmingham Austin Court has recruited Akmal Shazad as its new venue manager. He has previously worked for hotel groups including the Intercontinental, Q Hotels, Best Western International and Crowne Plaza.

Simon Timmis, senior marketing manager, IET Venues said: "This is a very exciting time for IET Venues, with the £30m refurbishment taking place at our flagship venue and the extension to our teams.

"The new appointments bring with them a wealth of experience and an impressive portfolio of clients from various sectors. Most importantly, they all share our core value of offering first-class service and will help us to continue as the global engineering hub to IET members and the engineering community, and position ourselves as a top event facility to the events world."

IET London: Savoy Place is currently undergoing a £30m refurbishment and will open its doors for internal events in October. The venue will re-open in its entirety on 1 November 2015.
