The first of the short films, which are acting as a preview to brand events that will be unveiled in the new year, is called 'The Spirit of Ecstasy'. It premiered yesterday (12 December) on the brand's website and details how the brand became the luxury automotive marque it is today. British actress Kate Winslet narrates the film.

The film premiere also signals the beginning of a celebratory year for Rolls-Royce, as it prepares for the launch of the New Rolls-Royce Phantom later in 2017. The film series will also highlight the second chapter of the Rolls-Royce story, since its relocation in 2003 to the marque's centre of luxury excellence in Goodwood, West Sussex.

Torsten Müller-Ötvös, chief executive officer, Rolls-Royce Motor Cars, said: "The Spirit of Ecstasy has stood on the prow of every Rolls-Royce since 1911, representing 'the best' of everything, whilst silently guiding through life those exceptional people who have made our world turn. This is a story that inspires greatness and needs to be told. Our worldwide search for the perfect voice of the Spirit of Ecstasy led us back to West Sussex, England, where both Kate Winslet and Rolls-Royce, two British icons reside."

'The Spirit of Ecstasy' uses cutting edge motion capture and 3D scanning techniques to bring to life the Rolls-Royce story. This series of films will serve as a new platform in the virtual sphere where Rolls-Royce customers can engage further with the brand.

Advocates and followers of the brand will be given the opportunity to watch early views of the next episodes, as well as getting to attend to attend exclusive Rolls-Royce gatherings around the world. The brand will release more details on the events next year.

In October, the brand opened its first ever Rolls-Royce boutique in Dubai. Earlier this month, Jaguar announced its Art of Performance tour in India.
