Heinz marks anniversary with beans pop-up

To mark 50 years since Heinz launched its 'Beans Means Heinz' slogan, the brand is opening a baked beans pop-up in London.

Opening on March 27 within the food hall at Selfridges' Oxford Street store, for four weeks until 23 April, the pop-up will serve a selection of beans-based dishes, all spelt with a 'z' on the end.

These will include ‘Beanz with crispy bacon’, ‘Beanz with smoked ham hock’ and ‘Beanz with scrambled egg’. Customers will also be able opt in for additional cheddar cheese topping on any of these dishes, which will all be priced at £3.

Francesca Mattiussi from Heinz Beanz said: "Every day, two million people sit down to enjoy Heinz Beanz, whether that’s on toast, with a jacket potato or served alongside other dinner favourites. We wanted to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the advertising slogan ‘Beanz Meanz Heinz’ by offering up some modern twists that people can enjoy not only at our pop-up bar but also re-create within the comfort of their own home."

Limited edition cans all featuring words with 'z' on the end, such Beanz Meanz… Yummz, Famz, Chatz, Spudz, Eggz, Morningz and Brekkiez, will also be available to buy at the pop-up and in other Selfridges' stores.

In January, Heinz hid tins of soup in 'break in case of emergency' cases in London and other major UK cities, offering a warming surprise to commuters across the UK as winter set in. In December, chocolate brand Ferrero Rocher opened its dessert pop-up 'Dolce by Ferrero Rocher' in central London.
