Haymarket Exhibitions marketing director Simon Clarkson has made his first key appointment and overhauled the marketing department in the wake of the departure of marketing and features manager Kirsty Adams to Excel. The shake-up is Clarkson’s first major act since joining Haymarket at the start of the year (Event, February). Janine Ackerley joined from travel firm Sandals and Beaches Resorts at the end of last month. She replaces Adams as marketing manager of Vive La France, Vive Le Commerce and The Daily Telegraph Retail Golf Show. Under the new structure, junior staff will report to senior marketers who will in turn provide coaching, guidance and support. In addition, shows have been grouped together under the gaze of the senior managers who include the recently promoted Michael Smout and Nolan O’Connor. Clarkson said: “The department will be able to share the workload during peak periods in a more focused and organised way. The intention is to develop marketing excellence and a seamless service for clients.” A junior marketer for Max Power London, Board-X and Urban Games will be appointed shortly. • British Gas has been confirmed as headline sponsor for BBC Haymarket Exhibitions event the BBC Good Homes Show at the NEC from 8-11 May.
