The park, which has decided against hosting an Olympic House in the same way Finsbury Park is set to, said it wants to "engage and inspire communities to use City open spaces, and Hampstead Heath in particular, for positive recreation".
The programme, called Green to Gold, has already been accredited with the Olympic inspire mark, which recognises accessible programmes.
In June there is set to be a Hampstead Heath Green to Gold Roadshow, which will feature sporting events, arts and crafts sessions and community events. Later, in August, there are initial plans to stage a ‘music event with an Olympic twist’.
"We hope that the Green to Gold concept, will give our community a unique chance to harness its potential and create a lasting legacy of hosting the Olympic and Paralympics games in London for 2012," said Hampstead Heath leisure and events manager Paul Maskell.
