The group's website, detailing all of the venues involved, will act as a 'one-stop-shop' for organisers that are looking for event space in the area.
"Ultimately we want to increase turnover for each venue and boost the local economy," said Carolyn Gemmell, chair of Unique Venues of Edinburgh.
"We want long-term business success. We will also be able to guarantee quality through our eligibility criteria."
The initiative is supported by Visit Scotland and will be offering additional services to those provided by the tourist body's Business Tourism Unit.
"We're not competing with the Edinburgh Convention Bureau or Visit Scotland but instead will complement their work," added Gemmell. "We're pulling together a marketing consortium targeting the incentive, corporate and individual markets, not association business."
To join, each venue must have a primary income that derives from sources other than accommodation.
Venues involved in the consortium include: Edinburgh Zoo, Dundas Castle, The Signet, Edinburgh Castle and National Museums of Scotland.
