More than 95% of the 600 tonnes of waste generated at last week's event has already been recycled, surpassing the Royal Horticultural Society's (RHS) target of 90%.

The waste was recycled at Powerday's materials recycling facility in North West London, while specialist cleaning and waste service provider Sagum helped the RHS achieve the goal.

"Last year we recycled more than 80% of our waste but we wanted to go that step further," said show manager Alex Baulkwill.

"We have sometimes come in for a hard time but as a leading gardening charity we wanted to be responsible and sustainable when it comes to managing waste."
