Mike Hyams, managing director of TGA Chapmans, headed the purchase for an undisclosed sum on 30 June. He will manage both companies, but the two will trade as separate units.
Former ITE London sales director Brian Wiseman advised on the sale and has been appointed as a consultant at GPE. "My role is to help with customer service and to use my contacts to boost business," he said.
GPE's core business will encompass furniture, accessories and floorcoverings.
Wiseman said: "Graham Parrish Exhibitions tried to be all things to all people and expanded too quickly. We will build relationships with organisers and review expansion as and when it is deemed necessary."
GPE has taken on Graham Parrish's contracts but organisers will be able to review the situation. "We will try to convince them that they will get an improved service," Wiseman said. "On the smaller exhibitions we are happy to take a sole furniture contractor status, but will be joint contractor on larger events."
Graham Parrish Exhibitions went into administration on 23 April with debts of about £800,000 (Event, June). Administrator Cranfield Recovery made a number of staff redundant, leaving a 12-strong team.
