The company promises to deliver a sharing bag of Cadbury Twirl Bites to users’ homes or offices within 10 minutes.

The service will be available to those based in and around Shoreditch, Clerkenwell, the City, Knightsbridge, Chelsea, Belgravia and Kensington for one day only from 10am until 3pm.

Gett Chocolate will be delivered on motorbikes by the brand’s ‘knowledge boys’ – aspiring taxi drivers currently studying the capital to become fully qualified. Lucky Londoners are being encouraged to share their images on Twitter and Instagram using the hashtag #GettChoc.

Remo Gerber, Gett’s UK chief executive, said: "We understand that the tube strikes can cause extra stress and hassle for many Londoners travelling around the city. This is a fantastic opportunity to offer our users something that will truly brighten up their day.

"We are delighted to be getting Londoners free chocolate with a simple tap of the Gett app."

The announcement comes one week after Gett launched an on-demand champagne service with Veuve Clicquot.
