Furniture body axes leader to cut expo costs

The Association of Suppliers to the Furniture Industry (ASFI) has made chief executive Allan Lewis redundant after eight years in the job

The Association of Suppliers to the Furniture Industry (ASFI) has made chief executive Allan Lewis redundant after eight years in the job. Lewis said the move was a cost-cutting measure in anticipation of poor results for ASFI’s biennial furniture supplies exhibition. This year’s ASFI show will take place from 17-20 November at the NEC. Acc-ording to Lewis, exhibitors are taking up less space. He said: “ASFI needs a good income from the show to finance its activities, but I wouldn’t have thought that this drastic action was warranted. I’m surprised.” An ASFI spokesperson said: “Lewis’s departure is part of a restructuring of the association’s management.”
