Islington Metalworks encompasses a number of spaces that are suitable for events ranging from fashion shows and exhibitions through to weddings and live music performances. The venue features three bars, including the tube carriage cocktail bar in the courtyard, meanwhile the restaurant and club areas also house a bar each. Together the three spaces can host up to 500 people, or they can be hired out separately.
The Saatchi Gallery hosted events for London Fashion Week in February this year, with camera brand Canon hosting a fashion photography seminar. Toni & Guy also activated its Fashion Fix hair bar within the space, where ticketholders were able to choose from a menu of catwalk-inspired styles, such as creative braiding. All rooms are available for hire across the 6,500m2 of the London venue, with a maximum capacity of 1,500 guests.
The Piece Hall, Halifax
The Piece Hall in Halifax is due to reopen by the end of this year following a £19m restoration. The Grade I-listed building dates back to 1779 and was originally built to support the trading of pieces of cloth. The courtyard will hold up to 7,500 people for outdoor events, and could be used for large music events, an outdoor cinema or fashion shows, for example.
Poplar Housing and Regeneration Community Association (HARCA) in Tower Hamlets has received almost £1.8m to create a new fashion focused destination in the area, a project which has been labelled Fashioning Poplar. The association, in partnership with the University of the Arts London's London College of Fashion, will convert 81 unused garages and surrounding land into a 2,000m2 fashion destination, which will feature an events and market space. The hub is expected to open in autumn 2017.
