Banking Hall

This relatively new Grade II art deco space can host up to 800 guests and it is complete with its own in-house catering team, which is led by Caroline Gardiner and Alan Lucas.

For lunchtime events the pair has devised a series of pop-up food stations where guests can watch on as staff members prepare dishes in front of them, and in the evening there is a three-course event menu available.

Starters include a pulled pork and leek terrine and liquorice cured mackerel creation, meanwhile a 28-day rib eye bearnaise dish, which is served with chips and green salad are among the main options. Choose from the likes of a salted caramel tart, poached berries with Prosecco jelly and praline or eton mess for dessert.

Vegetarian, vegan, gluten free and dairy-free options are available at both lunchtime and evening events.

Laing Art Gallery

Situated in the heart of Newcastle, Laing Art Gallery has a number of spaces of varying sizes available for hire. These include the 60-person capacity function room along with the 18th and 19th Century Gallery, which is suitable for 100 guests. The entire venue is also available to hire for events of up to 550 people.

On-site caterer Sodexo Prestige handles the food and beverage across all of the gallery’s event spaces. For cocktail-style events there is a hot and cold canapé menu, which includes things like quails egg with smoked paprika and celery salt and mini Yorkshire puddings with beef and horseradish.

There are starters, mains and desserts available for sit-down dinners, where clients can mix and match different dishes as they please, as well as a handful of pre-designed menus.

One Embankment

One Embankment is the newest events space from London-based company, One Events. The 700-capacity venue is comprised of two levels – the main Amphitheatre and mezzanine, which wraps around the entire ground floor and offers views of Victoria Embankment and Waterloo Bridge.

One Events’ in-house catering division One Dining handles the food and beverage offering, which is British in style and inspired by the latest food trends.

There are seasonally focused lunch, dinner, canapé and ‘bowl food’ menus available, and the One Dining team are able to create one-off menus in line with clients’ requirements.

The lunch and dinner menu includes starters such as cured yellow fin tuna and potted ham hock rillettes, meanwhile mains span everything from globe artichoke heart tartlets to meat focused lamb, beef, duck and chicken dishes with a range of accompaniments. All the favourites are available for dessert, such as British summer pudding and vanilla panna cotta.

The Signet Library

This Georgian-style Edinburgh venue includes four rooms – the 400-capacity upper library is designed for larger events and the lower library can host 220 guests. The Commissioners & Witness Rooms, as well as Seminar & Arbitration rooms are well suited to conferences and other small-scale events or meetings.

Heritage Portfolio’s head chef Brian Canale and his 40-strong team oversee the venue’s food offering, where the philosophy is around using local, seasonal ingredients to create dishes that are a little left-of-centre.

Canapés include an apple wood smoked cheese and celery tart and crispy haggis balls, as well as bite-sized snacks on a stick and spoon such as Asian pork and noodle lollipops with sesame and soy dipping sauce and podded summer peas with radicchio, haloumi and lemon sabayon.

There are three-course spring/summer and autumn/winter menus for guests to choose from, meanwhile Canale is happy to work with clients on bespoke menus.
