Former Melville chief organises first show

Event Connexions, the company set up by ex-Melville chief Richard Pegler, has launched its debut show.

Techsec, a niche event for the security industry, will take place from 23-24 November at Excel. Pegler has joined forces with ex-CMP security portfolio event manager Paul McDonald to launch the two-day show.

"The industry is changing and more companies are looking at niche events to ensure a higher return on investment," said Pegler. "We are targeting the end-user and are focused on providing content, information and a personal touch."

The 1,000 sq m show will feature about 80 exhibitors that manufacture or supply security equipment. Pegler hopes to get 1,000 visitors.

Exhibitors can buy a Platinum package comprising a modular stand unit, real-time data capture services and planned seminar programme and master classes. Traditional space-only packages are also available.

A Pre-show Visitor Profiling (PSVP) system has been created. It allows exhibitors to be matched with profiles from pre-registered visitors and then have meetings arranged before or during the event.

Pegler said: "Organisers are often guilty of booking exhibitors, sending them the manual and then not making contact until the day of the show.

We aim to change this culture by offering a more personal organiser service."

Event Connexions is planning to launch two more niche exhibitions in the next four months, although it is keeping details under wraps.
