Echoing a call he made at the House of Commons recently (Event, March), he said more MPs should attend events and show a united front in bidding for business.
“It’s a global industry with huge potential for growth. We must fight for our share. But we face a problem with this in the UK,” he said. He flagged up the NEC’s failed bid to host the ITU Telecom show in 2009 during which the venue struggled to secure a governmental presence during the bidding process.
Foley made his speech at the Eventia-organised meeting in London on 14 March.
