Almost one third of companies (31%) are not familiar with the term 'streaming media', although 92% of them expect to be using it in the next two years, according to a survey by Reed Exhibition Companies.
All 1,259 respondents are involved in either broadcast or e-commerce.
The survey was conducted as part of the pre-show marketing campaign for e-Cast 2001, at Excel on 21-23 May.
The survey also found that 45% of companies plan to implement web conferencing, 45% are planning web casting and 63% are planning to implement e-commerce.
E-Cast 2001 focuses on streaming media technologies. The show aims to attract IP service providers, cable operators, broadcasters and corporates with sophisticated media strategies.
