Expomedia plans for overseas expansion

Expomedia Group has launched a licensing division to break into new global markets.

Expomedia Group has launched a licensing division to break into new global markets. The London-based company that manages five venues and many exhibitions in countries including India, Montenegro, Morocco, Poland and Russia, has also rebranded its organising arm, formerly known as CEE Exhibitions. The new name, Expomedia Events, was felt to better reflect the balance of trade shows and consumers events that exist within the Expomedia Group portfolio. Expomedia Group chief executive Mark Shashoua said: “It was an important statement for us to rebrand under one name as we continue to clone more events from market to market.” The addition of a licensing division means Expomedia Group will increase its search for local partners in emerging markets to whom it can license its show brands and venue expertise but where the cost will be borne by the licensee. Expomedia Group will retain the right to a royalty on all revenues and the right to partner fully at a later date once successfully established. Licence agreements have been established in China, Spain, France and parts of Russia. “We believe our model can be exported, which will bring expansion to the company without any consequential costs for the group from these developments,” Shashoua continued.
