Expomedia eyes London site as part of European roll-out

Expomedia is targeting London as part of its roll-out of medium-sized Expocentre venues across Europe.

The company has already finalised sites for six centres in Europe and Expomedia chairman Roger Shashoua believes land in the capital is readily available. He hopes to develop a medium-sized outlet but there are no firm plans at present.

The secured venue sites are in Amsterdam, Budapest, Moscow, Belgrade, Zagreb and Frankfurt.

"With these centres we believe we can reach out to the niche exhibition market,

said Shashoua. "We want to work alongside organisers so that they have the opportunity to clone their shows into other markets. It gives them the chance to have one contact over those countries."

Expomedia's organising arm CEE Exhibitions plans to organise about 80 exhibitions at the new centres from the beginning of 2003.

"It does not matter if we are not liked, or even admired, as long as we deliver the quality service we promised and more importantly help the exhibition industry as a whole,

added Shashoua. "We are all judged by repeat business and the money we make."

The group operates Warsaw International Exhibition Centre and the Katowice International Expocentre.

Last month, show organiser Montgomery International teamed up with Expomedia to develop two major shows in Poland (Event, March).
