Following an Indiegogo-led crowdfunding campaign that kicked off in June, Little Lion Entertainment has secured a 30,000 square foot blank canvas between Kings Cross and Angel in north London.
The Crystal Maze experience will feature a new build of the five-section set, including the Aztec, Medieval, Industrial and Futuristic zones, as well as The Crystal Dome. Plans are in place to keep the experience running for at least three years.
Tickets for the experience went on sale yesterday (1 December) and demand for entry subsequently crashed the website, which was still not accessible at the time of publication.
Little Lion Entertainment is formed of immersive theatre specialist Tom Lionetti-Maguire; producer Ben Hodges, who has previously worked with Secret Cinema; creator and director of immersive experiences Heist and Time Run, Dean Rodgers; and Malcolm Heyworth, original producer and creator of The Crystal Maze, who comes on board as creative consultant.
The team's fundraising campaign raised a total of £930,000. Little Lion announced back in June that the original host of the show, Richard O'Brien, will play a role in the experience, and Time Out magazine has reported he will appear in holographic form.
