Exhibitions: Changes to come after Clarion Events is sold

Clarion Events is entering a period of transition following its acquisition by private equity firm Veronis Suhler Stevenson. The exhibition organiser was purchased for around £120m following several months of bidding.

Clarion chief executive Simon Kimble said: "We are looking to re-invent ourselves. I believe that this is not just a new chapter, but a new book. There will be significant changes."

Following the deal, Kimble and his team are expected to pursue the acquisition of Reed's portfolio of arms fairs.

In 2004, Clarion Events was bought for £45m in a management buy-out backed by HG Capital.
