Games Market Europe is the first show for his new company, Tandem Events, and will take place from 31 August to 1 September at the Business Design Centre.
ELSPA deserted ECTS last year for the rival event European Games Network (EGN) and consumer show Game Zone Live, organised by London EventCo.
CMPi then axed its gaming portfolio and made Lane redundant, while London EventCo scrapped plans for a second Game Zone Live after Xbox, Sony and Electronic Arts withdrew support (Event, May). London EventCo has since decided to axe EGN too.
ELSPA director general Roger Bennett said: "ELSPA believes it is essential to have a UK trade event for Europe. The plans for Games Market Europe are clearly designed to ensure just that."
Lane said: "The biggest difference between this and the shows that were around last year is the format. It will appeal to all sectors and both large and small companies. We're keeping it tightly focused with a relatively level playing field providing lots of companies with a tight return on investment and a venue format they know.
"After the confusion of the last couple of years, the games market has been asking for a single, focused, no-nonsense trade event."
The show, which as Event went to press had sold over 30% of space, will have 12sqm, 24sqm and 36sqm booths with fixed prices for each. Lane expects 50-60 exhibitors.
