She spoke to Event about how she landed the Olympia gig, marathon running and Secret Cinema's re-invigoration of experiential.

I got into the event industry because it has the most exciting marketing. While working at marketing agency DWC, I experienced my first ‘show campaign’ and was hooked.

I have worked here since November 2011.

I was attracted to this particular role because… My predecessor approached me while working for Clarion Events. It's the best decision I’ve ever made. Getting to work with the UK’s leading events is an unrivalled experience.

Not many people know that I ran the London Marathon for Oxfam.

The best event I’ve been involved was my best friend’s wedding recently. It was just beautiful.

If I could do it all over again I would perhaps not have consumed quite as much bubbly.

The one thing I can’t stand is when people say: "I'll try". In the words of Yoda: "Do or do not. There is no try."

Outside of work I spend my time ticking things off of my bucket list.

If money were no object I would do [the things on my bucket list] all at once.

If I could switch places with anyone else in the industry it would be Fabien [Riggall] from Secret Cinema, as he is an absolute genius.

I think he has re-invigorated the experiential market and changed consumer expectations for events. From a marketing point of view, they showcase perfectly how brands can create genuine and meaningful connections with customers.

If I ruled the event industry I would invest in some crazy contraption to eliminate breakdown. It’s like cleaning up after a big party. You’re exhausted, sad it’s over and just want to lie on the couch.
