The judges selected the final two acts from a bill of five during Monday’s (18 May) event at Café De Paris in London. The audience was then asked to vote for its favourite, however it was too close to call from both an applause and standing vote.
For the first time in Beat the Brief’s history, each audience vote was counted to decide the winner.
Dancers The Twin Swing, magician Andrei Isfan and big band Mow the Brass also competed to be in with a chance to perform at this year’s Event Awards, as winner of Beat the Brief. All were asked to create a performance for a fashion house planning a vintage-style shoe launch for media and key customers.
The second heat of the competition, which is organised by Sternberg Clarke in association with Event, will take place on 16 June at London samba club Guanabara. The final will be decided at Event360, taking place at the Roundhouse on 23 June.
