The contest, which challenges acts to create a performance around an invented brief, will begin with an initial heat on 18 May at Café de Paris in London. The final two contenders will battle it out at Event and C&IT's award-winning Event 360, which is taking place at London’s Roundhouse on 23 June.
The winner will be invited to perform at the Event Awards later in the year.
The first heat will feature acts such as Mariachi trio Beato Burrito, the magician Andrei, digital circus performance Zero Central, dance duo The Twin Swing, comic trombonist Faye Treacy and cow-themed band Mow the Brass.
Adam Sternberg, director of Sternberg Clarke, told Event: "We want to show that not only are there some fantastic new acts out there, but also that entertainment is not merely that ‘bit’ you have at the end of a gala dinner if your budget stretches. Rather, it can be a creative and memorable way of communicating messages about your brand, product or company."
Last October saw beat boxing and a cappella act Beatvox take home the Beat the Brief crown, following a four-way contest at the Event Awards.
