Event Solutions: Canary Wharf venue has hi-tech upgrade

The East Wintergarden, a glass-covered atrium venue in the heart of Canary Wharf, has undergone a technological refurbishment.

The venue has installed an ILite 6mm-resolution LED screen supplied by XL Video and a sound-absorbing system called Microsorber from the Bremen-based Kaefer Isoliertechnik.

The screen is four metres long by three metres high and, according to venue manager Vicky Parr, provides a "ready-to-go" AV solution that allows clients to literally "plug in and play".

Microsober technology has been incorporated into the East Wintergarden in order to improve the venue's acoustics. The micro-perforated polycarbonate foil has been installed on the windows of the glass atrium. The foil's technology is situated in the 0.2mm diameter holes within the material, which transforms sound energy into heat energy, significantly reducing reverberation times and sound levels.

The venue's refurbishment comes in advance of its Christmas party offering being launched. Party bookings for up to 1,000 guests are available for those who wish to sit under the stars inside the 27-metre high glass atrium. Seasoned Events, formerly Crown Society Special Event Caterers, is the venue's in-house caterer.

Event upgrades include casino tables, aerial performers and live bands.
