Event Awards 2005: Editor's Comment

Attendees to the 2005 Event Awards will have now experienced the new setting of the Riverbank Park Plaza Hotel with its stunning views of Parliament and the river.

By relocating the industry's most important celebration of live event activity, exhibitions and branded campaigns, we are signalling the importance of seeking out fresh creative ideas to ensure the success of your face-to-face marketing concepts.

The Gold and Silver trophy winners exemplify this fresh thinking and were chosen from yet another year of record entries. A long day of judging, involving two panels made up from key industry experts, took place earlier in the year. The judges were encouraged to assess each entry on the merits of the written submission, plus support material, and then voted in a secret ballot - so not even the judges knew who had won when they walked into London's newest hotel on 7 October.

Congratulations to all the winners. The competition gets fiercer year on year, which is a tribute to not only the creative flair that exists in the event and exhibition world, but also testament to client demand for a form of marketing that has proven its effectiveness time and again in many forms.
