Designed to immerse fans and passers-by in the world of Star Wars, the 15-metre long 3D artwork installation will feature sound effects of ships, laser fire and droids. Fans are also being encouraged to don their favourite Star Wars constumes during their visit to the tunnel.

The installation, which is free to enter, will take over the tunnel underneath London’s Southwark bridge from 8am on Thursday (1 October) until 8pm on Friday (2 October).

The play set is an extension of the company’s Disney Infinity 3.0: Play Without Limits video game, and it will be released on Friday.

Disney in the UK unveilled a selection of new Star Wars: The Force Awakens merchandise during a midnight Force Friday event at its London Oxford Street store earlier this month.

The company has also partnered with All Nippon Airways to create a series of Star Wars-themed planes, and it recently announced plans to create two permanent Star Wars experiences in the US
