Diary: Shaggy dog story ...

The theme tune to Hanna-Barbera's Scooby-Doo has been etched into children's brains since 1969, and the popularity of his ghostbusting gang remains as high as ever.

So for fans - and their children - a show in Portsmouth organised by Green Eye Events came as an even bigger treat than one of the animated mutt's Scooby snacks. Called Scooby-Doo in Stagefright, it ran in the May half-term holiday and followed the familiar storyline of the gang getting caught up in ghostly shenanigans, presumably to find out that it was the janitor in a mask all along. And he would have got away with it, too, if it wasn't for those meddling kids.
