DIARY: Marriage made in Docklands

Weddings are wonderful occasions and for Diary they often bring a

tear to the throat and a lump to the eye.

If any couple is still looking for a venue for their special day then

Excel may be able to help. The Docklands venue now holds a licence to

host weddings for ten to 10,000 guests.

It's an unusual choice for anyone's big day but with 90,000 sq m of

space it should be able to squeeze in a few guests for the reception.

The package includes a "friendly concierge topped by a bowler hat to

greet guests".

Excel reckons it can also help out more adventurous couples with the

grounds able to be used for hot-air ballooning and bungee jumping,

although that's probably something best done before the champagne

reception. A technicolour yawn from either the bride or groom might not

impress the in-laws.
