As if being endlessly beaten by Australia at cricket wasn't bad enough, the Aussies now beat us at football, too. England sponsor Nationwide probably wasn't too chuffed with the 3-1 result at the recent friendly at Upton Park, but at least its brand experience outside the London ground scored with fans. The highlight was the Hotshots competition, which measures the speed of a kicked football. It is touring the UK and the fan with the fastest shot wins a host of top prizes - including tickets to see every England home international in 2004 - with chauffeur-driven travel to soften the blow.
