DIARY: Brake for the Italian border ..

This October sees car enthusiasts travelling to Italy's Emilia Romagna region to take part in a driving event for charity.

The Italian Job will raise money for the National Children's Hospice and has already attracted more than 80 teams.

The ten-day tour will travel through unspoilt areas of the Italian countryside, although unlike the cult 1960s film from which the event got its name, the drivers won't all be driving minis - some may be in Ferraris or Aston Martins. Diary hopes the tour doesn't end with everyone getting on a coach and facing a cliffhanger of a final day.
