DIARY: Auf wiedersehn Wembley...

The demolition of Wembley's famous twin towers brought back a flood of memories for Diary - England's World Cup win in 1966, Gazza scoring from a fluke - sorry free kick - against Arsenal in the FA Cup semi-final in 1991, overcrowding, a terrible view from almost anywhere, overpriced tickets, overpriced programmes, undercooked food (that's enough from memory lane - Ed).

Now that the twin towers have been flattened work can start on the new Wembley stadium with a 90,000 capacity. It should be completed by early 2006 - although Diary's not holding its breath.
