Agency Smyle Events organised the party for car dealership owners around the globe and guests, including former Formula One drivers Stirling Moss and Riccardo Patrese.
How was the party themed? An empty courtyard was transformed with a bespoke structure and a 'guest comfort' theme.There was a customised bar built in the cream and burgundy colours of Rolls-Royce, plasma screens, a bandstand and food bars. Table tops designed to represent the wheel trims of a 1960s Silver Shadow car were an impressive sight. Adjacent to the main structure was a water feature that had been turned into a chill-out zone for guests. In the relaxation lounge, party-goers could enjoy soothing music and a variety of hand-crafted games. The backdrop for the venue was the manufacturing plant, and guests were given the opportunity to view the machinery used in developing the famous car. The party was divided into two parts according to time: in daylight hours guests could enjoy the party, while at night they were treated to an introspective view of Rolls-Royce over the past 100 years.
Who was behind the party? Smyle Events managing director Rick Stainton was commissioned to produce this creative event. He headed a team that included Paula Pryke flowers, freelance designer Terence Brown, Alison Price caterer, freelance lighting technician Durham Marenghi and temporary structure supplier De Boer Structures.
What were the highlights? Looking back at the past 100 years of Rolls-Royce, which included a selection of cars being driven onto a specially built ramp, designed by Smyle. As each car was driven on stage, the colour of the water feature changed to reflect the era each car was from. Other highlights included the vast array of food and the transformation of an ordinary courtyard into a premier party venue.
